Its Fun Phrase Friday again!!!
This weeks fun phrase is.. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”
Meaning: You see what your mind is predisposed to see, and what you see is not necessarily evident to others.
History: The concept appears as early as 1756 in Edmund Burke’s , “A Philosophical Inquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful” : “Beauty is, for the greater part, some quality in bodies acting mechanically upon the human mind by intervention of the senses.”The modern expression appears in Margaret Hungerford’s “Molly Bawn” (1878)
Hope everyone has a great Valentines day weekend!
