Big Shot

This weeks fun phrase is “Big Shot”

Meaning: A person who is, or thinks he is, of considerable importance.
History: In the 19th century the same thought was expressed as “the big gun”; at times it was phrased as “the big noise.” “Gun” had become “shot” by about 1930. Now the term is so common it is often written as one word, “bigshot.”
